JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The Jackson Giants wrapped up their regular season last week with a rude greeting from the southeast part of the state. Four total losses to conference heavyweights Cheyenne and Laramie left the G-Men at 29-36 for the season but a clean slate for all teams is the way things will kick off in the post season beginning Monday.
Laramie 17, Jackson 5
It didn’t matter who Jackson threw at the Rangers Tuesday in the first of two with Laramie. Starter Aaron Huggins (7-4) was chased early and Lukas Gralund didn’t fare much better in the mop up role as the Rangers pounded out 14 hits enroute to a 17-5 romp.
Ayden Gralund, Trayson Kostial, and Xander Witt all had multi-hit games for Jackson is the losing effort.
Laramie 16, Jackson 5
The Giants again enjoyed an early lead against the Rangers as they scored 3 in the opening frame, and took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the 3rd.
That’s where Mason Wright’s (5-4) luck ran out as the starter was pulled after 2 2/3 innings, 4H, 7R, 3K, 6BB.
Trayson Kostial continued his hitting streak as he went 2 for 2, with 2 RBI. Mason Wright also went 2-2 with a double and a pair of ribbies.
Cheyenne 8, Jackson 2
The Post 43 offense disappeared in a double-dip with the Sixers. Jackson managed just 3 hits (singles from Trayson Kostial, Matt Fisher, and Bridger Hammond) while whiffing 10 times.
Wylie Wilkes (1-9) struggled with his command, walking 7 in 2 2/3 innings.
Cheyenne 12, Jackson 2
The nightcap’s final score looked worse than it was. Jackson had opportunities but left 12 men on base. The Giants also did not help themselves in the field, committing 6 errors as Xander Witt (6-8) took an underserved loss.
