JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Jackson girls and boys soccer teams came into last weekend’s contests in Casper undefeated. They would not leave the weekend that way.
Girls
Natrona County 2, Jackson 0
Natrona County continued its early season domination in the 4A with a 2-0 whitewashing of the Jackson Lady Broncs on Friday. For the Jackson girls it was their first loss of the season.
It was a goaltenders highlight reel for most of the contest as both teams had ample chances throughout. But Jackson tender Sidney Nash made several impossible saves to keep Jackson in it. The Natrona goalie was every bit as good as neither team managed to find the back of the net until extra time.
With 5:10 to go in OT, Fillies sophomore Kylan Campbell broke the ice after a 35-yard free kick was bobbled briefly by Jackson tender Nash and the gift rebound tapped in by Campbell on the backside.
It was Campbell again minutes later who notched the insurance goal with a beautifully-placed shot from in close just over the head of Nash as time expired.
Jackson 2, Kelly Walsh 2
The Lady Broncs rebounded from Friday’s loss shutout loss with 2 goals but it wasn’t enough to get the W against Kelly Walsh on Saturday.
Jackson got goals from sophomores Michelle Vargas Ramirez and Taya McClennen. Sophomore Piper Lee also picked up an assist.
Jackson is now 4-1-1 on the season with Evanston coming to town this Friday.
Boys
Jackson 13, Natrona County 0
The boys blasted the Natrona County Mustangs 13-0 Friday. If only they could have saved a few of those goals for the following match against Casper crosstown Kelly Walsh Saturday.
Kelly Walsh 2, Jackson 1
You can’t “bank” goals, however, and the Jackson Broncs suffered their first loss to the undefeated Trojans 2-1.
The Broncs lone tally came from Dilan Tzompa Perez with an assist from Teddy Opler. For Kelly Walsh, a pair from Jackson Catchpole was all the Trojans needed enroute to a 2-1 win.
Jackson is now 5-1 on the season.
