Long Island woman mysteriously missing in Grand Teton
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Local authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a Long Island woman last seen in Grand Teton National Park.
Gabby Petito, 22, was last seen August 25 in Grand Teton headed for Yellowstone. She was on a cross-country trip with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, driving in a converted white 2012 Ford transit van with Florida plates. The couple was documenting their trips to national parks on social media “Living the Van Life.”
Petito has a “Let it be” tattoo on her right arm as well as a tattoo of a triangle with flowers on the inside of her upper left arm. Petito is listed as 5’5” 110-lbs with blonde hair and blue eyes.
According to reports, Laundrie has returned to his home in Florida with the van in question and immediately lawyered up. He is refusing to cooperate with investigators.
The last verified communication with Petito was a Facetime chat with her mother on August 23 or 24. Her mother continued to receive texts from Petito’s phone until August 30 but it cannot be confirmed those were written by the missing woman.
Suffolk County police are asking anyone with information to contact them tollfree at 800-220-8477.
