Moose split with Suns on road trip

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The Jackson Hole Moose completed the front end of a home-and-home series with archrivals Sun Valley, returning to Jackson with a win and a loss to show for the trip.

Drew Akins (2G, 1A) and AJ Sanders 1G, 2A) led the scoring in a close, defensive battle Friday night. Backup goaltender Robbie Leslie was spectacular in Friday’s affair as he held the Suns scoreless through the first two periods.

Jackson Hole nursed a 1-0 lead into the 3rd when things opened up a bit. But the Moose came out with the 4-2 win. Captain Brian Upesleja also tallied for the Moose. Jason Reece added 2 assists.

Sun Valley 6, Jackson Hole 3

Sun Valley came out Saturday with a little more jump, potting 3 in the 1st to pick up a 6-3 win over the Moose.

Akins again led the offense with 1 goal and 2 assists. Tom Hartnett picked up a goal and an assist, and Reece also scored for the Moose.

Next up

The Moose traveled with a small unit, dealing with injuries, sickness, other issues. Sun Valley makes the trip to Jackson Hole for a NYE weekend.
