Post 43 inducts local trio into American Legion Hall of Fame
Jason Huggins, Tim Shibuya, and Michelle Doyle will be honored Friday
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Post 43 baseball organizers are looking forward to inducting three new local members into the Wyoming American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame.
The latest three to join the HOF from the Post 43 Jackson program include current head coach Jason Huggins, former star player Tim Shibuya, and longtime Giants field address announcer and advocate Michelle Doyle.
All will be honored before Friday’s scheduled doubleheader with Rock Springs, beginning at 5pm.
Jason Huggins
Called by his peers, “intense, devoted, caring, and knowledgeable,” Coach Huggins has devoted nearly three decades of service to young men involved in American Legion Baseball. A fierce defender of his players.
Huggins joins VP Dick Cheney, NY Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo, and former Atlanta Brave Mike Devereux, amongst others in the Hall.
Tim Shibuya
Shibuya was part of the Jackson Giants A State titles. He then went on to UC San Diego as a walk-on, where preceded to break every pitching record they had, including most wins.
His incredible work on the diamond all done while studying pharmacological chemistry.
Tim was drafted by the Twins in 2011. While in the Twins and Dodgers minor league system, Shibuya earned multiple pitcher-of-the-week awards. Shibuya reached as high as the AAA level in 2017.
Michelle Doyle
A baseball program is only as good as the parents and people who are around it are willing to be. Michele Doyle has been a staple in the crows nest for 30 years, scoring and announcing hundreds of games. She was president of the Jr Babe Ruth league in the 90’s, started the Sr Babe Ruth, then led the program to join the Wyoming American Legion League.
Doyle has also been on the American Legion board for many years and is back on as of 2021. She’s an avid Cards fan and lover of the game.
