Giants offense explodes in 4-game winning streak
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Post 43 walloped everybody they saw in Rock Springs during last weekend’s tournament. The Giants improve to 16-10 on the season with a 4-game sweep of the competition Saturday and Sunday.
Jackson 13, Rock Springs 4
Jackson has beaten Rock Springs in every meeting so far this season and Saturday’s opening was no exception. The Giants pounded out 13 hits in just 4 innings, scoring 9 runs in the put-away 4th inning alone.
Ayden Gralund led the way with 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate including a double and 3 RBI. Matt Fisher, Ethan Garner, and Aaron Huggins all had 2 hits apiece with at least one double. Fisher had 2.
Xander Witt picked up the easy win for the Giants, tossing 3-hit ball over 3 innings. Owen Khanna finished with an inning of relief.
Jackson 20, Rock Springs 3
The G-Men got all they needed in the 1st inning of the nightcap with the Stallions with a 10-run outburst in their first at bat.
Ethan Garner was ridiculous, going 4-4 with a homerun, a double, and 4 RBI. Mason Wright, Trayson Kostial, Matt Fisher, and Lucas Gralund also enjoyed multi-hit games.
Mason Wright picked up the win as the starter for Jackson. He went just the one inning and coach Jason Huggings elected to keep his pitching staff fresh in the lopsided victory.
Huggins also got a stellar inning out of Bridger Hammond, and 2 innings work from Warren Newton.
Jackson 13, Wheatland 12
Jackson never trailed against Wheatland in Sunday’s opener but the Lobos didn’t exactly hand the Giants a win.
Both offenses came to play, Wheatland smacking 17 hits and Jackson banging out 13 in the error-free game.
The Giants jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the 1st inning and it looked like Jackson pitcher Luke Moore, making his first start as a Giant, was going to cruise.
But Moore had to be lifted after 4 complete, giving way to the bullpen. Ayden Gralund, Matt Fisher, and Owen Khanna all pitched in out of the pen. Khanna was the last man standing and took home the win.
Wheatland battled back to tie things briefly at 6-6. But Jackson plated 3 more in the bottom of the 4th and another 3 in the 5th, eventually withstanding a 5-run Lobo 6th inning to take 12-12 game into their last at-bats before a Khanna walk-off single won the game for Post 43.
Jackson 13, Evanston 12
The Giants again had to fight off a pesky opponent in their final game Sunday against Evanston. The Outlaws refused to go quietly even after a 7-run 2nd inning for the Giants where they brought 11 hitters to the plate.
Ayden Gralund continues to settle into the leadoff role. He went 2-2. The rest of the lineup all contributed as well.
Mason Wright, who homered against Wheatland for his second of the year, went 4-4 with 3 runs scored and 2 knocked in. Ethan Garner added 2 doubles in his 3-hit day. Trayson Kostial added a homerun and a double.
Owen Khanna notched the win. He worked 2 1/3, surrendering 6 earned runs on 6 hits. He walked 4. Wylie Wilkes gutted out 2 innings of relief, running up a whopping 75-pitch count total for the hold. Bridger Hammond secured the save with 1 2/3 of solid relief, giving up just 2 hits while whiffing 3,
