Lady Broncs did everything but make shots
Evanston hangs on to beat Jackson 37-20
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — For at least one half of play the Jackson Lady Broncs were able to execute their game plan perfectly. Coach Andrea Joyce had the girls setting up a very patient halfcourt offense. They waited for the right shot, not just any shot. They got the look they wanted…and then missed. And missed. And missed.
Down just 4 at the half in a tough building to play in, Jackson hung with the Evanston Red Devils Saturday afternoon—a team that has outrebounded pretty much everyone in the state so far this season. But fatigue, a thinning bench, and the lack of finish doomed the Lady Broncs to a 37-20 defeat.
Without leading scorer Karsen Breeding, who left the program to transfer out-of-state for volleyball, coach Joyce has had a difficult time finding that player she can depend on to eat big minutes. Then Audrey Fouras went down to injury. Finally, when Gracie Hardeman left Saturday’s affair early with an apparent ankle injury and Rachel Noyce fouled out early in the 4th, there were precious few bodies on the bench left to play basketball.
This to close out a busy week that saw the ladies as road warriors, playing Teton, Pinedale, and Evanston in their gyms in five days.
Kasey Carr and Anna Revill have responded well with the increased minutes and both were very good against the Lady Red Devils. But as the season wears on, more will be expected of players who began the year vying for a spot on the JV team.
With the loss, the Lady Broncs fall to 2-9, 0-3. The Lady Red Devils are now 6-8, 1-3.
